Hoesch Museum
Hoesch is the name of the largest steel mill that operated in Dortmund, and it influenced the life and development of this city tremendously.
The Hoesch Museum was founded by the joint effort of former "Hoeschianer" (employees), the Museum for Art and Cultural Art, the Westfälisches Wirtschaftsarchiv Foundation and a lot of generous sponsors.
The founders were united by the knowledge of the enormous impact of the steel industry on the Ruhr Region and especially on the city of Dortmund.
Large cities grew in the shade of the steel converters and shaped the life of thousands of individuals to a common identity and transformed the Ruhr Region into one of the most important industrial areas in Europe.
The Hoesch Museum would like to keep the memories of one and a half century of steel industry alive, to illustrate the changes to the community over that period with vivid interactive exhibits and last but not least to show the importance of this high tech industry today.
